Spontaneous trips are the best!
I’ve been trying to escape a bit lately, from all the responsibilities I have. Looking for housing in San Francisco is tough, especially since this is my first time. Loads of assignments are due, and the term is coming to an end (which to me means something even worse, but I’ll get to that when it’s closer, escaping, see?). What better thing to do other than a quick trip to a world wonder?
The conversation went as follows (faithfully translated from Chinese into English by yours truly), and Paige starts it:
“Do you wanna go somewhere?”
“Where to?”
“I want to go shoot a time-lapse with traffic.”
“We can go to Toronto, Eaton Center, maybe?”
“Can we go shopping beforehand?”
“Oh, but Eaton Center is closed since it’s a Sunday and it’s already 6pm.”
“Is Ikea still open?”
“Closed as well.”
“…”
“How about Niagra Falls? I haven’t been there yet.”
“Yes! Let’s go!”
So we went on a trip to Niagra Falls at 6pm, quick 1 hr 30 minutes drive later, we were at the falls. After a quick trip to the Casino buffet and stuffing my face with nanaimo bars, we went to see the actual falls.
The falls are stunning.
Night time falls are lit up with colored lights that changes color every few minutes, so a long exposure on the falls captured a rainbow, and the water is silky smooth. I’m pretty sure Paige got some stunning shots on her A6000 as well, but she had requested I take a photo of the falls with her as a blurred out foreground, thus I obliged. I have to say, she has a real knack for picking the subject matter, and that’s one of the reasons why I love bringing her on these adventures I (otherwise probably won’t) have.
Of course, what’s a trip without a cheesy selfie, say cheese!
